Welcome to our Video Series!

I’m so excited to be offering these videos on the cutting-edge science and practice of transformation. These videos have been a bit of a passion project–a place where I could take all the information I so deeply wanted to share with my clients to empower their growth, and deliver it in an organized way. While I began these videos with the aim of creating a ‘companion guide’ to therapy, what emerged was a crash course in the steps needed to rewire our brain toward health and wholeness.

Watching these videos should give you a roadmap that will help you not only chart your own mind, but take well-placed steps toward changing it. While I love training therapists, I have really enjoyed creating content for everyday people. That being said, I don’t pull my punches in these videos! They are packed with cutting-edge theory and science–with topics like emotional learning and memory reconsolidation–and will surely introduce to you some very new and important ideas around human development.

The following six videos are intended as a sequence, and yet can be approached individually as well. I hope they help you in your journey! Let’s dive in!

emotional reactions

Our Emotional Issues: Where Do They Come From?

We all know we react in ways that sometimes feel irrational and perhaps even harmful, particularly when faced with certain triggers. But why is that? In this video we will demystify our emotional responses and behaviors and understand why our brains evolved to run more on ‘learned instincts’ than on logic.

How Do Experiences Shape Identity? – Why Your Issues Make Complete Sense!

We all think of ourselves as a little crazy. But the truth is, we aren’t! Our brain is guiding us to respond in ways that it actually learned (through experience!) are more likely to lead to our survival. So why are our choices sometimes so seemingly unhealthy?

childhood can mess us up

The Psychology of Schemas: Why Childhood Can Mess Us Up

Why do therapists obsess about childhood? Why would experiences from so long ago still impact us today? The answer is pretty simple. It rests on the fact that our ‘issues’ are not actually defects; they are modes of responding that we LEARNED.

memory reconsolidation

Memory Reconsolidation: How to Rewire Your Brain

We all know that it is difficult to change deeply engrained, emotional learnings, such as ‘I am unlovable,’ or ‘Others need me to be perfect.’ However, the science of memory reconsolidation clearly outlines a series of experiences that, if the brain moves through step by step, can open its neural networks for relearning.

transformation and growth

Transformational Change: A Deeper Kind of Growth

There are two types of change: incremental, which is often slow and takes more effort to maintain, and transformational, which can happen in a moment and is effortless to maintain. Given the benefits of the latter, this video outlines how to position ourselves to achieve transformational change.

How to Get the Most out of Therapy

Therapy isn’t magic–certain things need to happen in order for our brain to change. If you can be aware of what those things are, and actively try to engage them during therapy, you are more likely to have a positive experience.
